Minecraft Skyscrapers: Real-World Architecture in Blocks

Hey everyone! James here. Since I want to be an architect one day, I spend a LOT of time building skyscrapers in Minecraft. But I realized that just stacking blocks isn't enough to make a building look cool. You have to think like a real architect!

1. The Base, Middle, and Top

Real skyscrapers usually have three parts. The base (the part that touches the ground) should look strong. The middle is where most of the rooms are, and the top is the "crown." In Minecraft, I use different blocks like polished andesite for the base to give it that heavy feel.

2. Depth and Detail

One mistake I used to make was making walls completely flat. That's boring! Real buildings have windows that are pushed in or frames that stick out. Using stairs and slabs around your windows in Minecraft creates shadows, which makes your building look way more realistic.

3. Function vs. Form

In architecture, they say "form follows function." In my latest build, I made sure there were elevators (using water columns) and actual floor levels. It's not just a big hollow box—it feels like a place where people could actually live or work.

Minecraft is the best "sketchbook" for an aspiring architect. If you can dream it, you can build it (just watch out for Creepers)!

What's your favorite thing to build? Let me know!
